Performers and Volunteers are needed for Chinese Spring Festival Gala

Dear friends:

UCSD-CSSA will host the 2010 Chinese Spring Festival Gala on February 6th from 4:00PM to 9:00PM in Price Center West Ballroom B, UCSD. We expect to make this year’s event to be bigger and more fun than any previous year.

There are opportunities for you or your friends to take part in creating this event because we have time in our event for more performances. Would you like to play music, sing, dance, perform Wu Shu (Martial Arts), or perform other entertainment for a cheering audience of 300 people? To the Interested artists and performers: Please reply to me at zhoujun84@gmail.com, I will be delighted to work with you.


Or perhaps you just like to be more involved and closer to our community by volunteering in planning or setting up this event and making it better. For the volunteers and the performers, we’ve prepared free delicious Chinese dinner, free T-Shirt, discounts cards from sponsoring Chinese Restaurants, and furthermore, free entrance to enjoy this wonderful festival.

What to expect: Catchy Band, Professional Dancers, Funny Games and iPod Raffles…

Semi-formal suits required, traditional Chinese suits or formal suits preferred.

大家好，

欢迎来到UCSD！我是王思明，在新一届CSSA成员中任新生部部长（PS：新生部不止一个人…），主要负责新生接待工作。相信大家踏上San Diego第一步后都会庆幸自己做出了一个明智的选择，沙滩、棕榈、帆板、海风、艳阳…但是五分钟后大家就会被迫面对California普遍存在公共交通不发达的问题，接下来就该面对空空如也的冰箱和卧室考虑午饭、晚饭和睡觉的问题了。也许这样说有点打击大家的对旅途的憧憬，不过对长途旅行来说，提前多做一些的打算不是件坏事。CSSA新生部（PS：我和若干CSSA成员）工作的基本出发点就是帮助大家解决踏上美国第一步随之而来的问题，让大家在异国他乡摆脱迷茫和孤独，找回家的温暖。

针对新生赴美可能遇到的各种问题，2008-2009CSSA全体成员编写了一份十分详尽的New Comer FAQ（version 3.0），新一届CSSA成员在原有的基础上进一步进行了修订（version 4.0）。FAQ涵盖了衣食住行等诸多方面的问题，强烈建议大家行前仔细参考，相信能对各位的旅途提供更多的便利。同时，为了让新生能够尽快安顿，今年CSSA依旧会为大家提供接机和安排接待家庭，主要帮助大家解决交通、购物、银行账户、SSN等实际问题。特别是接待家庭计划，对于住房没确定或希望深入了解美国生活的同学，建议你们申请。UCSD的接待家庭资源主要来自San Diego本地的教会团体，是他们用无私的爱为UCSD的中国留学生提供力所能及的帮助，没有他们，CSSA的工作寸步难行。对于新生，接待家庭会为你们提供三天的食宿和往返学校接送，并且帮助你们安顿生活。但是由于资源有限，特别是今年新生人数增多，只能遵循先到先得的原则，CSSA会尽力给每位申请人安排，如有服务不周之处，希望大家谅解。这里要求同学们至少提前一周申请接机，提前三周申请接待家庭（需要填写表格），具体问题联系：newcomer.cssa.ucsd@gmail.com

新春将至，牛年大吉！值此佳节，UCSD中国学生学者联合会将于除夕之夜（1月25号周日）举办春节联欢晚会！欢迎所有在San Diego的中国同学同乡们与我们同喜同庆！

我们为大家准备了丰富的文艺演出，特别是体现中国传统的节目，包括舞狮，武术，古琴，琵琶，舞蹈，相声，乐队演出，歌曲联唱等。所有的节目都是来自于我们同学的倾情奉献，精彩不容错过！此外我们还为大家准备了一席中式晚餐，游戏及抽奖。愿每个观众都能与我们分享一份喜悦，一份收获！

我们鼓励大家穿传统的唐装参加晚会。没有唐装的朋友，也请着正装出席。

Please dress up with your traditional Chinese suits or other formal suits.

This year we will have to sell the tickets due to the very high demands and the limited seats available.
