The Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) is a non-profit organization at University of California, San Diego. Those UCSD students, postdocs, visiting scholars and their family members coming from People’s Republic of China are automatically eligible for membership. As one of the largest student organizations on UCSD campus, CSSA serves as an important vehicle in enhancing mutual help and affinity among individuals of the local Chinese community. Our email list is one of most important bridge through which our members communicate with each other and with the local Chinese community.
Each year there are many students and visiting scholars coming from China to study or work at UCSD. To help them get settled in the new environment and acquainted with the new life style, we designed Incoming Students/Scholars Service Program providing up to 3-day free temporary accommodation and initial settlement in San Diego. Working closely with local Chinese churches, we also provide the new comers free tour around the beautiful San Diego city.

Free bus tour for new students
CSSA also serves as link between the Chinese students/scholars at UCSD and the Chinese overseas government, Chinese Consulate General at Los Angeles. We broadcast the news/messages from the government to our members and represent Chinese students/scholars at UCSD and talk to the consulate.
As one of the major Chinese organization in San Diego, CSSA also provides a chance for UCSD students and citizens in San Diego to acquire a great deal of knowledge about Chinese culture and society through its annual performance and contact with the local community.
The operating body of CSSA is the CSSA Committee, which is elected each year and consists of volunteer graduate students committed to serving members of CSSA.
