New Year Letter from the President

Dear Students,

My name is Jun Zhou and I serve as the President of UCSD-CSSA for the year 2009-2010.  I am writing to you guys at the beginning of the new year, which I think is a good time to summarize the past and look forward to the future. First of all, please accept my best wishes for a happy new year, and hope the new year will bring the best of healthy and good luck to you and your family.

In the past 2009,  CSSA has been working on helping new students integrate to the life in US and building up a great Chinese Community on UCSD campus. Thanks for the support from my dear co-works in CSSA committee, we did great jobs and received a lot of acknowledgment from different people and organizations. In host family program, our New Comer Coordinator Siming Wang, spent most of his spare time on processing applications, contacting host families and making schedules. Because of his hard work, more than 80% of new comers were helped to settle down by local Chinese families or senior students from UCSD. Moreover, a lot of new comers still keep good connections with their host families. In Mid-Autumn night party, we hosted a wonderful ballroom dance party for our members and more than 300 people from UCSD, SDSU and some local Chinese people joined in this amazing party.  In addition to these two big events, we have also organized some small activities like Summer Picnic with CAST-SD, Immigration Seminars and etc, which all aimed at enriching our study life in UCSD.

In this coming February, CSSA will host the Chinese Spring Festival Gala at Price Center West Ballroom on UCSD campus and we expect to make this year’s event to be bigger and more fun than any previous year. Therefore, if anybody like to be involved in this big event or become closer to our community, come and join in us. You will enjoy this wonderful festival gala show as well as know a lot of awesome friends.

Best,

Jun Zhou
